- Main Sergeant Igor Maksyuta (call sign Wolverine) was killed on March 23, 2023. The warrior's life was cut short by enemy artillery shelling in the city of Kherson. He was 45 years old. Igor was born in the village of Zhuky, Poltava region. He lived in the city of Globyne, Poltava region. He received secondary education. He was passionate about cars and technology. He worked as a driver. He was an amateur musician. In 2016, he decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine under a contract. He served in the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade. Initially, he was a driver, and later became the chief sergeant of the weapons repair platoon of the repair company. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation in Donbas. In May 2019, he signed a second contract. This time, he served in the 131st Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, holding the position of driver in the evacuation and withdrawal group. Igor met the full-scale invasion as part of his unit and continued to defend Ukraine from the occupiers. "We want our friend to be remembered, he is a true Hero! He was able to escape from captivity, carried out sabotage work in the occupied Kherson, was incredibly strong in spirit and cheerful and sincere! A man-holiday!" said the deceased's friends Victoria and Yuriy Filipovy. "Igor dedicated 7 years of his life to military affairs and serving the people. He defended his native land from Russian invaders and protected our peace. Unfortunately, Igor Mykolaiovych's life was cut short so early, he could have done many more good deeds, saved more than one life. But he became a guardian angel in heaven. It is unspeakably painful to lose our heroes, worthy sons of Ukraine. We bow deeply to the feat of our countryman," noted the Kremenchuk Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. The hero was buried in his native village of Zhuky. Igor is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
