Ihor O. Potrebenko

Soldier Igor Potrebenko was killed on October 11, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. He suffered fatal shrapnel wounds and explosive injuries as a result of being hit by a hostile drone. The warrior was 35 years old. Igor was from the village of Mukhivtsi in the Vinnytsia region. He studied at the local school. In 2005, he graduated from the Nemyriv Vocational Lyceum and obtained the qualification of an electric and gas welder. He was well-versed in the construction field. He studied, received a diploma as an alpine climber, and his main activities in life became landscaping, removal of tall emergency trees, landscaping, design, and planting of private plots. On May 29, 2023, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Igor then told his wife: "Now I am needed at the front. Don't worry, everything will be fine. I'll be back soon, as my little son is waiting for me." He served in the 79th separate air assault brigade. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended the Donetsk region. "A loving husband and the best father in the world to his 'little nose' - that's how lovingly he always called his little son. Our 10 years of life together were interrupted by the war..." said the wife of the fallen soldier, Svitlana. The paratrooper was buried on the Alley of Glory of Heroes in one of the cemeteries of Kyiv. Igor is survived by his parents, sisters, brother, wife with a young son, an older son, many friends and colleagues, relatives and loved ones.
