Ihor O. Usyk

Senior Lieutenant Ihor Usyk was killed on the first day of the full-scale war during a rocket attack in the Vinnitsa region. He was 28 years old. Ihor was born in the village of Riasnyky, Rivne region. He graduated from the National University of Water Management and Environmental Protection with a degree in "Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation". He also completed a military department there. After graduation, he worked as a master at Rivnegaz PJSC. In 2017, he stu at the Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy, improved his military qualifications, and the following year signed a contract to serve in the military. At the time of the full-scale Russian invasion, Senior Lieutenant Usyk held the position of head of the life support group of a military unit of the logistics command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On the morning of February 24, 2022, Russian troops launched three rockets at Vinnytsia. Senior Lieutenant Usyk was in a military unit in the city of Kalynivka, where an enemy rocket hit, as a result of which Ihor was killed. According to colleague Oksana Buk, Ihor was a true officer, a bright person, and a good friend. "He loved life, loved ones, and Ukraine above all else. He loved to sing when I was sad. He is an Officer with a capital letter. The pain of loss does not subside," she added. The defender was buried in his native village in Rivne region.
