- Senior Lieutenant Ihor Shynkaruk (call sign Father) was killed on April 15, 2022 in Mariupol, Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, crossing to the Azovstal metallurgical plant, he received a fatal wound. Ihor was 63 years old. He was born in the town of Chornyi Ostriv, Khmilnytskyi region. His parents, as young specialists, were sent to work in the Russian city of Norilsk. There he graduated from secondary school No. 3, and then studied at the Mechanical Faculty of the Riga Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers. Later, together with his family, he moved to the Kyiv region and transferred to the Kyiv Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers. He served in the army. He worked at various enterprises. He held the position of chief engineer for medical gas supply networks. With the start of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily took up the defense of Ukraine. He served in the ranks of the separate special purpose regiment "Azov". He took part in a secret GUR operation - a flight on helicopters to the besieged Mariupol to help his comrades-in-arms. "My husband loved to read very much, was interested in computer science and adored traveling," said his wife Raisa. The warrior was buried in the village of Tarasivka in the Kyiv region. Ihor is survived by his wife and daughter. A cube in honor of the warrior was installed on the Alley of Glory in the city of Boyarka, Kyiv region.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
