Ihor V. Demchuk (Demon)

Lieutenant Colonel Ihor Demchuk (call sign Demon) took his last battle on August 2, 2023 near the village of Blahodatne in the Donetsk region. He suffered fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. The officer was forever 36 years old. Ihor was born in the village of Karyshkiv, Vinnytsia region. He graduated from the National Academy of Internal Affairs with a degree in "Law". Later, he also obtained an education at the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine in the specialty "Management". In 2010, the man began his military career in the National Guard of Ukraine. Since 2014, he has participated in the Russian-Ukrainian war, fighting in the ATO / JFO. He started his service as a shooter, and during the full-scale invasion he was already the commander of a special forces group of a separate special forces unit "Omega". Since February 24, 2022, the officer has been defending Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk regions. "The call sign comes from the surname and the power of hatred for the enemy..." - said the officer's wife. In 2022, Ihor Demchuk was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. The officer was buried in the Field of Honorable Burials of the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. The defender left behind his wife Yevheniia, sons Danyil and Matvii, other relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms. Posthumously, Ihor Demchuk was awarded the title of "Hero of Ukraine" with the award of the Order of the "Golden Star". The secondary school in the village of Karyshkiv in Vinnytsia region was named after the fallen Hero of Ukraine Ihor Demchuk.
