- 28-year-old squad leader Ihor Kорchaк (call sign Bukovsky) was killed on March 24, 2022, in battles with Russian occupiers for Kyiv. The defender engaged in a fight with enemy saboteurs and received a fatal gunshot wound. Ihor was born in the village of Nova Vodolaga in the Kharkiv region. He graduated from the Kharkiv State Automobile Transport Technical School. He entered the university but almost immediately went to war and joined the ranks of DUK "Right Sector." Since 2015, he participated in the ATO, serving as a grenade launcher-machine gunner. In 2016, he signed a contract with the 501st Separate Marine Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The following year, he was wounded near Pavlopil in Donetsk region. Later, he was classified as a second-degree disabled person. He settled in Kyiv and worked for a while in the "Municipal Guard," traveling abroad for work. He married and raised a daughter, planning for the future. On the first day of the full-scale war, Ihor was called up as a reserve military officer. However, due to his disability, he returned to civilian life. The veteran could not sit at home, so he began looking for TRO units. Within a few days, he joined the 23rd Separate Rifle Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The defender defended Kyiv region from occupiers almost the entire hot period. "Ihor was a very brave, strong-willed person. Just, reliable. He loved three things to the point of madness: Ukraine, his little daughter, and his parents. The war gave him to me, and it took him away from me...," Ihor's wife, Yulia, said. Ihor Kорchaк was buried at Lіsovе Clеаrіng Clеаrіng in Kyiv. He is survived by his parents, wife, and daughter.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
