- Sergeant Igor Makhiboroda (call sign Karat, Prapor) was killed on July 4, 2024 in Dnipro from respiratory and heart failure. The defender was 41 years old. Igor was born in Lozova, Kharkiv region. He studied at school No. 7 there. He loved to read and played basketball. Having a talent for learning foreign languages, he mastered English, Italian, Georgian and Polish. Even while still in school, he decided to devote his life to the military. He entered the Mykolaiv Automotive Military College. After graduation in 2003, he was accepted into the military law enforcement service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Eastern Territorial Administration in Dnipro. He served in the Armed Forces for 21 years. According to his sister, the warrior's call sign had a long history: "Karat was his nickname since school and accompanied him all his life. His comrades also called Igor Prapor," his sister Anastasia shared. Igor joined the defense of Ukraine during the ATO period. From the first day of the full-scale invasion, he returned to the front line as part of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. He fought in Mykolaiv, Kherson, Pokrovsk, Bakhmut. For his service, he received the "Veteran of War" badge. "My brother and I were very close, we always understood each other with half a word. He was always my support, my support, my protector, my friend. Igor was a very intelligent person, he knew the answer to any question. I miss him very much," Anastasia said. The defender was buried in the central cemetery "Field of Glory" in his hometown. Igor is survived by his father Volodymyr Mykolaiovych, sister Anastasia, daughter Olena and wife Maryna.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
