- Combat medic Ihor Metkyi was killed in action on June 23, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Novomayorske in Donetsk region. Two months before that, on April 18, the defender turned 37 years old. Ihor was born in the village of Kvasyliv, Rivne region. He graduated from the National University of Water Management and Nature Use, where he received the profession of an ecologist. For some time, he worked in his specialty, but his soul was drawn to something else: he loved to do something with his hands, was fond of computers, and never refused if asked to fix or set something up. Before the invasion, he worked at the Kvasyliv Foundry and Mechanical Plant. With the start of the full-scale war, on March 6, 2022, the man unhesitatingly joined the ranks of the defenders. He served in the 68th separate hunting brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. After training, he became a senior combat medic. Together with his comrades, he defended Donbass. "Ihor voluntarily went to defend his country. From the very beginning to the end, he was on the zero position. Comrades noted that Ihor was a real warrior, a man of courage, an example of unbreakability and strength of spirit. He fulfilled his duty to defend his state with honor and remained faithful to the oath to the Ukrainian people and Ukraine until his last breath," his father Vitaliy said. "He always tried to help everyone, it didn't matter what kind of person it was - if he could do something, he did it without any excuses. "Mom, I'll come, don't worry, I'll definitely come. But then I'll stay in the army," Ihor assured, his mother Tetyana added. "He was extremely well-read, an intellectual. Recalling what he was like as a student, his school teacher said that perhaps there was not a single book in the Kvasyliv library that Ihor had not read. He was a true patriot and loved Ukraine more than anything," the Rivne Regional State Administration noted. The military man was buried in his parents' homeland in the village of Naraiv, Rivne region. Ihor's parents and brother remained.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
