Ihor V. Shchukin (Rybak)

Senior soldier Ihor Shchukin (call sign Ryback) was killed on March 3, 2023 while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Dibrova in the Luhansk region. The defender was 37 years old. Ihor was born in Potsdam (Germany). From childhood he lived with his family in Zhytomyr. He received a higher education in the specialty "Management of Organizations" at the European University (Kyiv). For many years he worked in insurance companies. His last position was an analyst at "Reelee (Risk Life Consulting)". He was passionate about fishing, was a sports fisherman, and participated in many fishing championships in Ukraine. With the start of the full-scale invasion, the man voluntarily joined the defenders of the capital. He became a rifleman of the 244th battalion of the 112th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After the liberation of the Kyiv region, he went to other directions of the front. "Your sincere laughter and bright eyes now live in our echo, your courage, strength, and mind shall guide us through life. You are no longer with us, but in the heart, in the soul, in the memory - you are here... His smile, positivity, and kindness have left a mark on the hearts of many. He was the best dad, husband, son, brother, the most loyal friend, with a sincere heart and a pure soul," said the wife of the fallen Hanna Korkh. The warrior was buried in Zhytomyr. Ihor left behind a mother, sister, wife and daughter. Ihor Shchukin was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
