Ihor V. Shvets (Shved)

Soldier Igor Shvets (call sign Swede) was killed on March 12, 2023 in the settlement of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region. He did not live to see his 29th birthday by three months. Igor was from the Poltava region. After finishing secondary school, he entered the Karliv College, and later the educational institution in Kharkiv. He obtained an engineering degree. In peacetime, he worked as a construction worker. He was interested in cars. In December 2022, Igor joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a sniper rifleman in the airborne assault platoon of the 81st separate airborne brigade. "Igor was a very good person, and unfortunately there are very few of them... He always treated everyone with respect, and family was his top priority. He tried to give his son Nikita the best." said Anastasia, the sister of the deceased's wife. The defender was buried in the village of Zakhlyupanka, Poltava region. Igor is survived by his mother, wife and son. Igor Shvets was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
