Ihor V. Sukhykh (Sukhoi)

31-year-old ATO veteran and volunteer, Ihor Sukhykh (call sign Sukhyi), was killed in action on March 24, 2022, during the clearing of Irpin, Kyiv region. The defender received fatal injuries during a mortar attack. Ihor was born in Skvyra, Kyiv region. He lived in Irpin and stu at local school No. 3. He later graduated from Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi Pedagogical University and the faculty of tax police at the National University of the State Tax Service of Ukraine. Ihor was a Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class in military sports and hand-to-hand combat, a champion, and a prize-winner of Ukraine and Europe championships, as well as a player for the ATO-Irpin football team. Lieutenant Colonel Ihor Sukhykh held the position of senior operational officer for special assignments at the Ministry of Fiscal Service of Ukraine. In 2015, he volunteered to join the ATO/OOS zone and was later assigned to military intelligence. He served in Mariupol and Shyrokyne in Donetsk region over two rotations. With the start of the full-scale war, he joined the ranks of the Irpin Territorial Defense Volunteer Unit No. 1 to defend his city from the occupiers. "Ihor was a good, sincere, bright, and cheerful son, brother, and friend. He was a loving husband, caring father, and patriot of Ukraine," said his mother, Iryna. The defender was buried at the Alley of Glory in Irpin. Ihor is survived by his parents, sister, wife, and two sons: 6-year-old Nazarii and 3-year-old Timur.
