- Lieutenant Ihor Volynets was killed on May 30, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Dovhenke in the Kharkiv region. The officer was 21 years old. Ihor was born in the city of Zhytomyr in a family of a military serviceman. He followed in his father's footsteps. First, he graduated from the Kyiv Military Lyceum named after Ivan Bohun, then he entered the Military Academy in Odesa. In his free time, he was engaged in martial arts and weightlifting. During his service, he participated in competitions. After graduation, the young officer went to serve in the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. He was the deputy commander of the mortar battery. From the first days of the full-scale war, he stood up to defend Ukraine. "Ihor was strong and unbreakable, and at the same time very kind and sensitive. He never left anyone in trouble, always motivated to lead a healthy lifestyle. He himself was athletic and strong. A true patriot who gave the most valuable thing - his life, for the sake of Ukraine and Ukrainians," said his friend Vladyslav. The officer was buried at the Smolyanskyi Military Cemetery in his native Zhytomyr. Ihor's parents remained. Posthumously, Lieutenant Ihor Volynets was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
