Ihor Y. Markvas

Born on October 17, 1967, in the village of Novomykolaivka of the Zhovtneve (now Vitovske) district of Mykolaiv region. Graduated from high school. In 1984, he entered the Odesa Polytechnic Institute (now Odesa National Polytechnic University). From 1986 to 1988, he served in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Soviet Union. After the army, he continued his studies at the institute, which he graduated from in 1991. From 2002 to 2013, he served as a shooter in the shooting team of the Snihurivka station, and since 2013, he has been a shooter in the shooting team of the Mykolaiv station (1st group) of the Kherson detachment of the departmental militarized guard of the State Specialized Enterprise "Odesa Railway" of the Public Joint Stock Company "Ukrzaliznytsia." In August 2014, he was mobilized to the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0224, Mykolaiv city). Since the fall of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On February 12, 2015, Senior Lieutenant Markvas was killed during a tank shelling in the area of the village of Lohvynove in the Artemivsk (now Bakhmut) district of Donetsk region while conducting an operation to unblock the Bakhmut - Debaltseve road. On February 15, 2015, he was buried in the cemetery of the city of Snihurivka, Mykolaiv region.
