Ihor Yu. Kovtun (Zelenka)

Soldier Igor Kovtun (call sign Zelinka) was killed on December 31, 2022 near the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. The defender received injuries incompatible with life during an enemy mortar attack. The warrior was 33 years old. Igor was from the village of Karabynivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. After finishing school, he served in the airborne troops. In peacetime, he worked as a construction worker in a private organization in Dnipro. He was passionate about rock music and ethnic culture. In 2014, he went to defend the country in the ATO, and that same year he was wounded. After rehabilitation, he returned to the front line. Due to complications after concussions in 2015, he was demobilized. On the first day of the full-scale invasion, he volunteered to join the ranks of the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade, taking the position of a grenade launcher in the 3rd mechanized platoon of the 9th mechanized company. He was awarded the medal "Defender of the Fatherland". "My son was very kind, almost too much. He always helped everyone, never refused anyone. He dreamed of traveling. He said that after the victory he would go to India, he really liked the religion and culture of this country. He wanted to travel around India, help those in need there. The best son in the world!" - said his mother Larysa Biletska. The defender was buried in the village of Mayskoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Igor is survived by his parents, sister and two brothers.
