- Igor Mazhara (call sign Batya), a fighter, was killed on April 11, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Khromove in the Donetsk region. In May, the defender would have turned 51 years old. Igor was born in the village of Sofiyivka, Mykolaiv region. At the age of 9, he moved with his family to the Donetsk region, to the city of Horlivka. In 2012, he returned to his native village. He had a secondary education. He worked at the Sofiyivka water utility. In his free time, he loved to fish. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a serviceman of the 42nd separate mechanized brigade. Later, he was transferred to the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade. He conscientiously and responsibly carried out all tasks and fought for his native country until the end. "My dad was a real Hero of Ukraine. He always helped everyone, he was very kind. When the summons came to him, he went to war without hesitation, because he thought he needed to protect us from these inhumans. He was wounded near Bakhmut, but after rehabilitation, he returned to the front again. He really wanted to go there, he told me every day that he needed to go to his comrades-in-arms as soon as possible," said the deceased's daughter Svitlana. The defender was buried in his native village. Igor is survived by his wife Natalia, daughters Svitlana and Maryana, granddaughter Viktoria, and other relatives.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
