Illia V. Markevych

26-year-old senior sailor Ilya Markevich died on November 10, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in the Kherson region. Ilya was born in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region. He studied at a local school and then worked as a surface defect processor at an enterprise. He completed his compulsory military service and then decided to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under contract. Ilya was a fighter in the 73rd Marine Special Operations Center named after the Hetman Antin Holovaty. In his free time, he engaged in creativity—composing and performing rap. He also enjoyed hanging out with friends. "A great loss for the team at 'INTERPIPE NIKO TUBE'—defender Ilya Markevich has died. Ilya worked at the enterprise for only half a year. Quick-witted and inquisitive, Ilya quickly transitioned from a student to independent work, processing surface defects in metal at TPC-2," wrote Ilya's colleagues. "Ilya was very cheerful, kind, and the best friend. I never heard anything bad about him. Everyone loved him very much… We will never forget you; you will forever remain in our hearts," noted his friend Olga. The serviceman was buried in his hometown of Nikopol. Ilya is survived by his mother and sister.
