Ivan A. Horbatiuk

Senior soldier Ivan Horbatiuk was killed in action on July 20, 2022, in the village of Andriivka, Kherson region. During enemy shelling, he received injuries incompatible with life. Ivan was 29 years old. He was born in the village of Pulyny, Zhytomyr region. He graduated from a construction college. In peacetime, he worked in his specialty. He was interested in fishing. During the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine as part of the 61st separate infantry brigade of the reserve corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of gunner. "Brave, courageous and strong in spirit, he went to defend our mother, our Motherland. His comrades noted that at the age of 29, he was a real warrior. There were many difficulties during the service, but he always supported the guys who lost hope and did everything in his power. He fought to the end. This is a great loss for the family - the loss of the best, wisest, beloved son and brother," said his sister Alina Habrylchuk. The warrior was buried in his native village. Ivan left behind a wife, son, parents, and sister. The warrior was posthumously awarded the Medal of St. Archangel Michael of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
