Ivan A. Vasylchuk

Senior soldier Ivan Vasylchuk was killed on May 29, 2022, near the village of Yakovlivka, Donetsk region. The defender was 35 years old. Ivan was born in the village of Lazy, Zakarpattia region. He stuwas killed at a local secondary school. Later, he received the profession of a mechanic-tractor driver at the Chornoostrivsky Professional Agrarian Lyceum. He was fond of cars and was interested in military service. After completing a 3-year contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he returned home. When the Russian-Ukrainian war began in 2014, Ivan returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since 2015, he has been performing combat missions in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donbas. He was a gunner of the BMP. A year later, he returned home. With the start of the full-scale war, on February 26, 2022, Ivan was mobilized to the 128th separate mountain assault Zakarpattia brigade. Until May 15, he was in training in Mukachevo, and then went with his comrades to Donbass, from where he returned already on a shield. "Our Ivan was a sincere and kind person. Friendliness and all the positive qualities that can be called, - this is all about him. We cannot come to terms with this loss. We love, mourn, remember, our dear Hero," said Hanna Vasylchuk. The defender was buried in his native village in Zakarpattia. Ivan left behind his parents and sister.
