- 34-year-old Senior Lieutenant Ivan Barnich (call sign Barni) was killed on July 16, 2023 while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. He was considered missing for more than 3 months. The death of the officer was confirmed on October 20. Ivan was born in the village of Kropyvnyk, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He graduated from the State Tax University and the military department, became a reserve officer. He got married, and later the couple raised their firstborn, whom the man loved very much. Their second child, a daughter, was born during the full-scale invasion. Ivan wanted to protect his family from the war more than anything, so he volunteered to the military enlistment office. On March 2, 2022, the man was mobilized into the Ukrainian Navy. He held the position of commander of the radio platoon of the communications company of the communications and radio engineering support battalion of the 35th separate marine brigade. "Ivasyk was killed at the age of 34. A person with a disability group, he could have not served, but on February 24, on the first day of the great war, he came to the recruitment centers four times to defend his family. He was an extremely kind person, a loving father and husband. Positive and funny, always smiling and very stubborn, he constantly insisted on his own, we loved him very much for that. His comrade-in-arms at the funeral said that Ivan was very warlike, simple and sincere, contrary to all thoughts, he sincerely believed in our victory. Ivasyu, we pray for you, you are forever in our hearts," said the deceased's cousin Natalia Lasii. The officer was buried in his native village. Ivan is survived by his parents, sister, wife, son, daughter, grandmother and grandfather, cousins and nephews. Posthumously, Senior Lieutenant Ivan Barnich was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
