Ivan I. Nykel (Khudozhnyk)

Soldier Ivan Nykel (call sign Artist) was killedon February 19, 2023, in battle on the outskirts of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. The warrior remained forever 34 years old. Ivan was from the village of Dubrivka, Lviv region. After marriage, he lived with his family in the village of Torganovychi. He graduated from Vocational School No. 19 in Drohobych, obtaining the qualifications of plasterer, painter, and tiler. In civilian life, he was engaged in repair work and worked on construction sites. He loved to draw. During the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of operator of the anti-tank guided missile platoon of the 53rd separate rifle battalion. "He was the best father for his children, a reliable support for his wife and parents. Until his last breath, he remained faithful to his comrades-in-arms and the state. Those who knew him say that people like him are extremely rare. I am proud of my husband, and my daughters are proud of their father-hero, a father with a capital letter," wrote his wife Solomiya. The warrior was buried in the village of Torganovychi. Ivan is survived by his mother, wife, and two daughters.
