Ivan I. Pidhirnyi

Senior Soldier Ivan Pidhirnyi was killed in a hospital in Kyiv on November 28, 2022. On September 16, 2022, during the liberation of settlements in the Izyum direction in the Kharkiv region, he sustained a severe head injury. For more than 2 months, doctors fought for his life, but the defender never regained consciousness. On October 31, the warrior would have turned 51 years old. Ivan was born in the village of Kororets, Ternopil region. He received secondary education. Then he served in the Marine Corps. In civilian life, he worked abroad. He was fond of football and fishing. He loved nature and flowers. But his family was the greatest value in his life. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man joined the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine to protect his home and loved ones from the occupiers. He served in the 15th separate Sloviansk regiment. "Our loving father, husband and grandfather was an incredibly kind person and a brave warrior. Bright, sincere, fair, he always came to help. He was an example of a true warrior and a true Ukrainian. And he proved it at the dearest price - the price of his own life. He loved his wife, children and grandson. He loved to live and enjoy the morning sun..." - said the daughter of the fallen Olga. "One of the first in February 2022, Ivan returned from abroad to join the ranks of the Armed Forces and go to the defense of Ukrainians. He always joked, was an example of courage, readiness to serve, believed in victory... Sleep peacefully, Ivan... You have received your personal victory. We all need to prove it to the end. Thank you for your sacrifice, for your devoted heart, for your heroism, for your goodness. Unspeakable pain," - noted in the Kororets village council. The National Guardsman was buried in his native village. At home, Ivan was awaited by his mother Olga Mykhailivna, sister Halyna, wife Natalia, daughters Oksana and Olga, son Ivan and grandson Arsen.
