Ivan M. Herasymchuk (Herasym)

Soldier Ivan Gerasimchuk (call sign Gerasim) was killed on September 28, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. The warrior sustained fatal injuries in battle with the enemy. The defender was forever 39 years old. Ivan was born in the village of Mulchytsi in the Rivne region. He lived in the city of Varash in the Rivne region. He studied at Varash Lyceum No. 5. In his youth, he played for the local football team "Isotop". He loved billiards. In 2004, he graduated from the vocational school of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant. From 2004 to 2010, he worked as a turbine equipment repair mechanic in the energy repair unit of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant. And then he worked in the same profession in a private company. On February 9, 2023, Ivan was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of driver in the 2nd reconnaissance platoon of the 421st separate rifle battalion of the 141st separate rifle brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He carried out combat missions in the Donetsk region. "My husband loved his family very much. His children were his whole world. That's why he went to protect us from the enemy. He was brave, fair, and very kind. How we miss him... I am very grateful to the comrades-in-arms who risked their own lives to bring my Vanyusha's body out of hell," said the defender's wife, Talaigul Akmatova. Ivan was buried in the Alley of Heroes in the village of Stara Rafalivka in the Rivne region. He left behind a wife, son, daughter, mother, and brother. The warrior was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
