Ivan M. Mezei

Soldier Ivan Mezei was killedon February 24, 2023, defending the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region from the occupiers. On February 18, the defender turned 34 years old. Ivan was born in the village of Synevyrska Polyana in the Zakarpattia region. He graduated from the local secondary school. Since he grew up without a father, he was the eldest in the family. After school, he immediately started working. He traveled abroad to earn money. When he was at home, he was engaged in house repairs, doing everything with his own hands. During the full-scale invasion, the man was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar". He carried out combat missions in various hot areas of the front. "He was a very kind and sincere person. He wanted to help, he never refused. He loved justice and loved Ukraine very much, which he went to defend. He said he was going for the sake of the children. He really wanted to live... Eternal memory to him," said the sister of the fallen Marina. "The war takes the best... Brave, kind, always smiling, ready to help - this is how he will forever remain in the memory of his fellow villagers, comrades-in-arms and friends. He loved life very much and gave it for our peace and tranquility. We share the bitter loss with the family and his closest people. Victory comes at a very high price for us! We honor... We mourn... We remember... We pray..." - noted in the Synevyrska community. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Ivan was awaited by his mother, two sons, relatives and friends.
