- Born on April 14, 1986, in the urban-type settlement of Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske, Chernihiv district, Chernihiv region. After some time, the family moved to Khabarovsk Krai (Russian Federation). In 1998, the family returned to Ukraine. In 2002, he graduated from Mykhailo-Kotsiubynska Gymnasium, then from Vocational Technical School No. 1 (now Chernihiv Professional Lyceum of Chemical Industry) in the city of Chernihiv. From 2004 to 2006, he served in the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (Lviv). From 2006 to 2009, he served as an inspector in the patrol service of the Chernihiv district police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Chernihiv region. From 2009 to 2010, he served in the rapid response department "Sokil" of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. In 2010, he returned to his previous place of service. In January 2014, at his own request, he resigned from the police. On April 24, 2014, he was mobilized as a volunteer into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 13th territorial defense battalion "Chernihiv-1" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (in November 2014, the battalion was reformed into the 13th separate motorized infantry battalion, which became part of the 1st separate guards tank brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military unit field post V2278). From May to June 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On January 30, 2015, Sergeant Tomylko was killed during a tank shelling by Russian-terrorist groups at checkpoint No. 1302 "Pohryb," located in the area of the city of Vuhlehirs'k in the Artemivsk (now Bakhmut) district of Donetsk region. Along with him, Sergeant Kharitonov, Sergeant Kolesnyk, and Senior Soldier Andrusenko were killed. On March 15, 2015, he was buried in the cemetery of the urban-type settlement of Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske, Chernihiv district. On May 7, 2015, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the urban-type settlement of Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske on the facade of the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynska Gymnasium (Sadova Street, 60), where Ivan Tomylko studied. On September 23, 2015, a Memorial to fellow countrymen who died during the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine was opened in the urban-type settlement of Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske, among whom is the name of Ivan Tomylko. On October 22, 2015, during a session, a decision was made to rename Horkyko Street in the urban-type settlement of Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske to Ivan Tomylko Street.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
