- Soldier Ivan Fil (call sign Phil) was killed on January 27, 2023, defending the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region from the occupants. During the enemy shelling, he sustained a fatal shrapnel wound. On January 18, the defender would have turned 29 years old. Ivan was born in the village of Medukha, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He studied at the Ivano-Frankivsk Educational and Scientific Institute of Management of the West Ukrainian National University, majoring in Management. Since 2014, he has been fighting for Ukraine in the ATO area. Later, he headed the Halytskyi regional association of ATO warriors and worked in the local military commissariat. During the full-scale invasion, the man again unhesitatingly took up arms and joined the ranks of the defense forces. He served in the 210th Special Separate Battalion "Berlingo" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was an operator of the anti-tank section. "An extremely brave and courageous warrior. He participated in the ATO, where he was wounded in the leg. After the full-scale invasion, he immediately volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine without hesitation. A man of his word. Always smiling, sincere and incredibly kind Ivan," said the childhood friend of the fallen Iryna Hladka. "Courage without limits, selflessness that cannot be stopped, resourcefulness, high intelligence, perseverance - this is how Ivan was. Thank you to our defender for the feat!" - noted on the page of the Ivano-Frankivsk Educational and Scientific Institute of Management. The warrior was buried in his native village. Ivan is survived by his wife, daughter, parents, brothers, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
