- Senior Sergeant Ivan Borovyk (call sign Borman) was killed on June 4, 2024 near the village of Karlivka in the Donetsk region. While performing his duties, he received a fatal explosive injury at his position. In May, the soldier turned 34 years old. Ivan was born in the village of Chornukhy, Poltava region. He graduated from the local secondary school named after H.S. Skovoroda. He studied at the Poltava State Agrarian Academy, but interrupted his studies to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He loved fishing and taught his son Yehor this hobby. He worked in security, did construction work, and built wooden houses and gazebos at recreation centers. In March 2021, the man signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakov Handziuk. He held the position of senior sergeant of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery division. He received the award "Golden Cross". "Ivan was a wonderful selfless friend who always came to help, a loving son, brother and father. In every company, he was the soul of it, getting along well with both older people and peers, and children simply adored him. He took up the defense of the country even before the full-scale invasion of the enemy - on March 24, 2021. He began his military path in the East, near Bakhmut, then there was training in Desna, and just before the invasion, Ivan was sent to Oleshky in the Kherson region, where he met the enemy invasion. The military did not have time to withdraw to the right bank of the Dnipro and remained under occupation. But Borovyk maintained constant contact with the command, transmitting data on the placement of enemy equipment and manpower, which our artillery then accurately worked on. Risking his life, passing through enemy posts, Ivan managed to move to the territory controlled by our troops. After a short rest, he returned to his unit. Then there were Mykolaiv, Kherson, Chornobaivka and then the East... Ivan Borovyk fought in the Avdiivka direction, then in the Pokrovsk direction. He served near Nevelske, Pervomaiske, Krasnohorivka, Karlivka... He had more than one successful military operation to his credit. Ivan was respected by his comrades-in-arms, among whom he had great authority. He always said: "Military affairs are my thing." But during this time he became very tired... The memory of our Vanya will live forever in our hearts," his mother Maria Tymofiyivna said. The defender was buried in his native village. Ivan is survived by his parents Vitaliy Ivanovych and Maria Tymofiyivna, brother Stanislav, son from his first marriage Yehor, and beloved girlfriend Olena.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
