Ivan V. Fomin (DIABLO)

35-year-old senior soldier Ivan Fomin (call sign DIABLO) was killed on September 16, 2023 near the village of Sadove in the Kherson region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries as a result of a hostile FPV drone hitting the vehicle of the defenders. Ivan was born in the city of Kirovohrad (now Kropyvnytskyi). He lived in the village of Orlove in the Kirovohrad region. He graduated from the medical vocational college "Monada" and obtained the profession of a dental technician. However, he worked in the village, where he was engaged in farming and land cultivation. He was passionate about hunting. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man went to defend his loved ones and home from the occupiers. Ivan joined the ranks of the 124th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 194th battalion. "We are proud of our Hero! He gave the most valuable thing - his life. The family lost a loving and caring father, son and brother. Not everyone can, looking death in the eye, stand shoulder to shoulder with their comrades, not fearing for their lives, save others and bravely fight for the freedom of their country," wrote the deceased's sister Halyna. The soldier was buried in the village of Orlove in the Kirovohrad region. At home, Ivan was awaited by his mother, sister and daughter.
