Ivan V. Koval

Ivan Volodymyrovych Koval was born on February 27, 1997, in the village of Khipivka, Horodnia district, Chernihiv region. His father raised Ivan alone. In 2014, Ivan graduated from Horodnia District Gymnasium No. 1. He studied at Chernihiv Higher Vocational School No. 15. In the fall of 2016, he was called up for compulsory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and then continued his military service under a contract. In the fall of 2021, he signed a second contract. When the war in Eastern Ukraine began, he went to serve in the 1st Separate Tank Brigade. He was killed on his birthday, defending Chernihiv, when an enemy missile hit his tank, which was stationed in Masany, on February 27, 2022. He was buried on April 8, 2022, in his hometown.
