Ivan V. Volkov

Born on July 11, 1973, in the city of Sumy. Graduated from high school in Sumy. Served for 16 years in the fire department. Was the captain of the Sumy team in firefighting sports, and was a multiple winner at the Ukrainian championships. Since May 2014, he has been in the internal affairs bodies. Served as the commander of a platoon in the special police patrol service battalion "Sumy" of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Sumy region (city of Sumy). From 2014 to 2015, he was deployed three times to the area of the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Since February 2015, for the fourth time, he served in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On the night of February 28 to March 1, 2015, at a checkpoint near the city of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region, during a conflict with a fighter from the special police patrol service battalion "Mykolaiv," police captain Volkov received two gunshot wounds to the abdomen. The wounded officer was taken to the hospital in Sloviansk. Doctors fought for Ivan Volkov's life, but their efforts were in vain. On March 1, 2015, after a 4-hour operation, the officer died from his injuries. On March 4, 2015, he was buried at the Zasumskyi cemetery in the city of Sumy.
