- Sergeant Ivan Hohnyak (call sign Vohnyk) was killed on September 10, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Mykolaivka Druha in the Donetsk region. The defender did not live to see his 35th birthday by four days. Ivan was born in the village of Malyi Rakovets in the Zakarpattia region. He graduated from the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. From 2006 to 2007, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He then served for 8 years in the internal affairs bodies of Ukraine, specifically in the Pechersk District Police Department in Kyiv. At that time, he settled in Sofiivska Borshchahivka. He served as an operational officer in the criminal investigation department for over 5 years. In 2016, he received the rank of police captain. Later, he worked as an assistant to the deputy general director at the Zik TV channel, as a representative of an investor in a company, and as the director of the LLC "Innovative Industrial Technologies." Since 2021, he had been engaged in entrepreneurial activities. In his free time, he attended motorcycle festivals, as he was interested in motorcycles. On February 28, 2022, he voluntarily took up the defense of Ukraine and joined the ranks of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Zakarpattia Brigade. He held the position of squad leader — commander of the infantry fighting vehicle platoon. The defender was buried in his native village. "I always loved you, love you, and will love you... There are no words to express the pain of loss..." noted his wife, Viktoriia. The serviceman is survived by his wife and two daughters: Nika and Daria. A memorial plaque for Ivan Hohnyak has been installed on the facade of the Malyi Rakovets Secondary School of I-III degrees.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
