Khrystofor P. Popov (Forik)

Marine corps sergeant Khrystoffor Popov (call sign Forik) died on October 26, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Pidstepne in the Kherson region. The defender was forever 37 years old. Khrystoffor was a native and resident of Myrnograd, Donetsk region. He studied at the general education school of grades I-III No. 17. Then he graduated from the Myrnograd Professional Mining Lyceum No. 105. He worked at the Pokrovske mine administration. He was a good specialist. Colleagues remember him as a kind and reliable person. In March 2022, Khrystoffor went to defend his homeland and family from Russian invaders. He served in the 38th separate marine brigade of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a squad leader, a vehicle commander. He carried out combat missions in his native Donetsk region: in Marinka, Avdiivka, Pavlivka, Novodonets'ke, Velyka Novosilka. Later he went to other directions of the front. "He was a wonderful father and husband. He always smiled. At the cost of his life, he saved a comrade-in-arms. He is our Hero," said the wife of the fallen fighter, Yevheniia. "Khrystoffor was a true commander and, above all, a true and worthy person who was never aloof from the problems of his subordinates and comrades-in-arms, he always cared for them, was a support and a pillar. He was a man who was on the side of good with faith and truth. This man was the pride of his family, a support, a strong pillar without which it is impossible to imagine one's life," his relatives wrote. The hero was buried in the Ozerky cemetery in his native Myrnograd. At home, Khrystoffor was awaited by his parents, wife and daughter, who was 3 years old at the time of his death.
