Kostiantyn I. Vasiuk (Kalyna)

Public activist and paratrooper Kostyantin Vasyuk was killed on August 24, 2022, in a battle with Russian occupiers in the southern direction. The man turned 58 years old in June. Kostyantin lived in the city of Kalynivka in Vinnytsia region, where he was known for his active civic position. Since 2008, he headed the city organization of the VO "Svoboda" party. He actively participated in the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity. He was always a patriot and defended the interests of Ukraine. After the Maidan, he headed the Kalynivka district state administration. However, when the Russian-Ukrainian war began, he went to defend Ukraine as part of the Armed Forces. He served in the separate 308th engineer-sapper battalion, was the deputy commander of the battalion for personnel work. This unit built field fortifications in Donetsk and Luhansk regions along the entire front line. According to friends, in civilian life, the man was a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. With the start of the full-scale war, Kostyantin returned to the Armed Forces to drive the enemy out of Ukrainian lands again. He served in the airborne assault troops: first in the 95th brigade, then in the 46th. He took part in the liberation of the village of Makariv in the Kyiv region. Then he was wounded and concussed. As part of the 46th Separate Assault Brigade, the man went to defend the southern regions of the country. There he took his last battle. Kostyantin was a true friend, husband, father, brother. A true enthusiast and leader. A true "Svobodivets". A true Ukrainian, for whom the slogan "Ukraine above all" was not just words, but always filled with actions. Always in the front ranks. A direct creator of the "Leninopad" in Vinnytsia region. Honesty, dignity, justice, kindness, and the desire to be the first to help in a difficult moment were his life virtues. He was killed on Independence Day of Ukraine, defending this very Independence. Kostyantin is survived by his wife and three children.
