Kostiantyn V. Chornyi (Staryi)

Police officer Kostiantyn Chornyi (call sign Old) died in the hospital on August 7, 2023. On July 20, in a battle with the enemy near the settlement of Kurdiumivka in the Donetsk region, he received a shrapnel wound to the head as a result of a shell explosion. Kostiantyn was born in the village of Novooleksandrivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. He obtained the profession of a specialist in automated process control. In civilian life, he worked as an armored car guard at PrivatBank. In his free time, he loved to repair cars. In February 2023, the man joined the ranks of the United Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine "Fury". "My father was the best person. He loved his family and his country. Despite the fact that he worked in the bank's cash-in-transit service and drove to the front-line cities, he made the decision for himself that he needed to defend Ukraine. For this, he resigned to have his military deferment removed, and applied to join 'Fury'. I am proud of my father, who raised me and my brother to be very good people," said Daria Chorna. The defender was buried in the village of Bratske, Dnipropetrovsk region. Kostiantyn is survived by his wife Anzhela, daughter Daria, and son Yehor. Kostiantyn Chornyi was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree and the distinction of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Cross of the Brave". He was also posthumously promoted to the rank of senior lieutenant.
