Kyrylo O. Serhiienko (Malysh)

Lieutenant Kyrylo Serhiienko (call sign Malish) was killed on January 8, 2023, as a result of a hostile shell hitting the "Artemsil" plant in the city of Soledar, Donetsk region. The officer did not live to see his 40th birthday by three months. Kyrylo was born in Kyiv. He obtained a law degree. For a long time, he worked as a guide to the Chornobyl exclusion zone, and before the war, he was a consultant at a tourist equipment store. He loved active recreation, but above all, his family. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he delivered humanitarian aid to residents of villages liberated from the occupiers near the Chornobyl zone. He volunteered for the front. He defended Bucha, Hostomel, and Irpin as part of the Azov regiment. Then he joined the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade. He participated in the offensive on Kherson, and in early January 2023, he ended up in Soledar. He was the deputy commander of a mortar unit. He came on leave only once - on his daughter's birthday. He dreamed of doing volunteer work and taking his family on vacation to the Ukrainian Crimea. "Kyrylo saved a comrade from mines. He had both legs damaged, and he is now unable to walk. He sent him with the medical team, and he himself took up an ambush. He was very exhausted. -20, severe frost, three days without sleep, on duty. There were no windows, shells were flying, it was a meat grinder. They worked 20 meters from the occupiers. The battles were very fierce. On January 8, a shell hit the room where he was. Instant death. He heroically was killed with a weapon in his hands," the hero's wife said. Kyrylo was buried in the Alley of Glory of the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv. The defender left behind his wife Yanina and daughter Sophia.
