- 35-year-old Sergeant Leonid Kondratiuk (call sign Viking) was killed on May 4, 2022, in the vicinity of the village of Prudjanka in the Kharkiv region. The vehicle he was in was blown up by a landmine while evacuating the wounded and dead from the battlefield. Leonid was born in the city of Starokostyantyniv, Khmelnytskyi region. He graduated from Myrolyubnytska school and the Novoselytsky vocational and technical college. He began his military career in 2006. Initially, he served in the security company of the tactical aviation brigade named after Petro Franko. During the Russo-Ukrainian War, in 2016, Viking fought in the ATO near Donetsk. He underwent his combat baptism in Pisky. Later, Leonid moved to his wife in the village of Klivodyn, Chernivtsi region. He served in the regional military enlistment office but could not remain in civilian life for long, so he joined the 10th separate mountain assault brigade and returned to the war. During the full-scale war, Viking, as a combat vehicle commander, was constantly at the front line and bravely held back the Russian occupiers. Together with his comrades, he destroyed the enemy in Donetsk, Kyiv, and Kharkiv regions. “He was genuine, reliable. He was a friend and a beloved. He gave the most precious thing — his life — for our native sky, putting all his love for Ukraine into it,” said his wife Alona. Sergeant Leonid Kondratiuk was buried in the village of Novoselytsia in Khmelnytskyi region. Leonid is survived by his mother, two brothers, and his wife.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
