Leonid V. Leontiuk

Born on August 11, 1971, in the village of Makhnivka, Koziatyn district, Vinnytsia region. Graduated from high school. Served in the Armed Forces on conscription. On August 16, 2014, mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Served in the 93rd Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1302 (field post V2830), urban-type settlement Cherkaské, Novomoskovsk district, Dnipropetrovsk region). Since 2014, participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Participant in the battles for the settlement of Pisky in the Yasynuvata district of Donetsk region and in the area of Donetsk International Airport. While performing a combat mission, he sustained serious injuries. After treatment and rehabilitation, he returned to the front line. On September 20, 2015, L.V. Leontyuk was demobilized. Since March 15, 2016, he served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Served in the 93rd Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1302 (field post V2830), urban-type settlement Cherkaské, Novomoskovsk district, Dnipropetrovsk region). From spring-summer 2016, he again participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 13, 2016, Junior Sergeant Leontyuk was blown up by a tripwire near the village of Krymske in the Novoaidar district of Luhansk region, resulting in serious injuries. The serviceman was taken to the Kharkiv hospital, where he died from his injuries on July 15, 2016. On July 17, 2016, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Makhnivka, Koziatyn district, Vinnytsia region.
