Maksym A. Poltavets (Poltava)

Soldier Maksym Poltavets (call sign Poltava) was killed on July 29, 2023, as a result of an explosion on an explosive device while performing a combat mission near the village of Orlikivka in the Chernihiv region. On August 5, the defender would have turned 26 years old. Maksym was born in the village of Orlovets, Cherkasy region. He graduated from the Horodyshche Vocational Lyceum, and obtained the profession of a builder. Before the Great War, he worked at the "Central Fish" company in Cherkasy. During the full-scale invasion, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect his country and loved ones from the enemy. He fought as part of the 64th separate rifle battalion. He was a rifleman-operator. "Maksym was an example for many people. He was kind, responsible and strong. At the age of 25, he saw more than some at 50. Maksym is a model of courage, indomitable spirit and patriotism, manifested in the fierce battles near Vuhledar. He had a desire to live, had a lot of plans, wanted to start a family, but the war changed everything..." - said the sister of the fallen Anastasia. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Maksym was awaited by his parents and younger sister.
