- Marine Maxim Portniy (call sign Manya) died on June 24, 2023 at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital named after I. Mechnikov from severe injuries. On June 17, near the village of Makarivka in the Donetsk region, he came under enemy tank fire. The defender was 32 years old. Maxim was born in the village of Chapayevka (now Voskresenska) in the Zaporizhia region. He studied at the local secondary school. At the Classical Private University in Zaporizhia, he obtained the profession of a geodesist. In civilian life, he held the position of a landscaper at the Blagoustriy-Polohy utility company. He was passionate about agronomy. He spent his free time with his family. He loved his children very much. He planned to officially adopt his wife's son from a previous marriage, but did not have time. For the sake of his loved ones, the man went to war. He wanted to protect them from the Russian invaders and dreamed of a peaceful future for his children. Maxim served in the 35th separate marine brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyy. He was a scout. "Maxim was a very kind and sensitive person, he always helped everyone. Fair and persistent. He had many friends and acquaintances. He was the soul of the company. He adored his daughter (affectionately called her Butusik). He always said: 'Kittycat, we will have everything, just wait a little bit.' We miss him very much, his laughter, jokes and gentle hugs. He is my universe..." - said the wife of the fallen soldier Kateryna. The warrior was buried in the St. Nicholas cemetery in Zaporizhia. Maxim is survived by his parents, wife, daughter and son. At the time of their father's death, the children were 3 and 13 years old, respectively. Posthumously, Seaman Maxim Portniy was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
