Maksym O. Samoilovych (Som)

Born on August 11, 1980, in the city of Potsdam, German Democratic Republic (now the federal state of Brandenburg, Germany) to a military family. Since 1982, he lived with his family in the city of Dniprodzerzhynsk (since 2016 - Kamianske) in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In 1995, he graduated from the 9th grade of secondary school No. 37 in Dniprodzerzhynsk (now the Municipal Institution "Educational Complex No. 37"), and in 1998, he graduated from vocational technical school No. 26 in Dniprodzerzhynsk (now the Kamianske Professional Lyceum) with a specialty in "gas-electric welder." From 1998 to 2000, he served in the ranks of the Airborne Forces of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After the army, he returned to Dniprodzerzhynsk (now Kamianske). He worked in the railway workshop of the Public Joint Stock Company "Dniprozot." He studied part-time at the Dniprodzerzhynsk Technological College of the Dnipro State Technical University, qualifying as a "mechanic technician." On July 28, 2015, he was mobilized as a volunteer into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 2nd company of the 37th separate motorized infantry battalion of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit field post V6266). He participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. He was the commander of a platoon stronghold. Call sign "Som." During his time in the anti-terrorist operation zone, he was repeatedly commended by the command. On September 12, 2016, Junior Sergeant Samoylovych was killed during shelling from a 2S1 "Gvozdika" self-propelled howitzer at the positions of Ukrainian troops near the village of Chermalik in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region. On September 15, 2016, he was buried at the Glory Alley of the Sosmista cemetery in Kamianske.
