Maksym O. Sushchenko

Senior soldier Maksym Suschenko was killed in action on July 4, 2022, in the area of the village of Klynove, Donetsk region. During a battle with an enemy with superior forces, he received a shrapnel wound incompatible with life. Maksym was 32 years old. He was born in the Sumy region. He graduated from specialized school No. 1 in Sumy. He took part in the ATO/JFO. During the full-scale war, Maksym again stood up to defend Ukraine. He held the position of a grenade launcher of the 1st motorized infantry unit of the 1st motorized infantry platoon of the 1st motorized infantry company of the 15th motorized infantry battalion "Sumy" of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. "A cheerful, bright person, everyone loved him," said his relative Yuriy Medvid. Maksym Suschenko was buried on July 9, 2022, on the Alley of Glory of the Baranivsky cemetery in Sumy. In February 2023, Aeroflotska Street in the defender's hometown was renamed in his honor.
