Maksym S. Altabasov (Balabas)

Police private Maksym Altabasov (call sign Balabas) was killed on September 5, 2023, in the village of Kurdyumivka in the Donetsk region. During the assault on enemy positions, an artillery barrage began, and one of the shells hit near the man. His body could not be retrieved for some time due to intense shelling, and he was considered missing until November 2023. Maksym was 36 years old. He was born in the city of Ichnia, Chernihiv region. He studied at the Ichnia City Secondary School of Grades I-III and later obtained the qualification of a crane operator at the Ichnia Lyceum. He served in the army. In civilian life, he worked as an equipment adjuster at the Ichnia Dairy and Canning Combine. He also had an education as an industrial climber and was engaged in insulating high-rise buildings. He loved fishing and billiards and adored nature. For some time, he and his wife lived in Poltava, and then they settled in Ichnia. "My husband was kind, sensitive, the best father for our daughter. In every company, he was the soul of the company, he had many friends and acquaintances. They still visit him, they don't forget..." - said his wife Maria. Since February 2023, Maksym has been a fighter of the "Safari" assault regiment of the National Police of Ukraine's "Fury" united assault brigade. He was awarded the "Cross of the Brave" and the Order of Courage of the III degree. The defender was buried in December 2023 in the cemetery in Ichnia. Maksym is survived by his parents, two older brothers, his wife, and daughter.
