- Sergeant Major Maksym Dorotenko (call sign Dora) was killed on April 19, 2022 near the village of Kurulka in the Kharkiv region. While carrying out a combat mission, he came under enemy missile fire and received fatal injuries. In May, the defender would have turned 34 years old. Maksym was born and lived in Zaporizhzhia. He graduated from school No. 60 there. He worked as a metalworker at Motor Sich JSC. In 2014, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donbas. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Maksym unhesitatingly took up arms again to defend his homeland. He was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar", defending the Kharkiv region together with his comrades-in-arms. "He was a very good father and friend. He loved life very much. No matter what happened, he always took everything positively. At work, he made the most complex metal structures, worked with any metals and made various exclusive items to order. There is no one like him. He was a very kind and cheerful person. We miss him very much," said the best friend of the deceased, Antonina. The hero was buried on April 26, 2023 in the Alley of Glory of the Kapustianyi cemetery in his hometown. Maksym is survived by his father Vasyl Mykhailovych, older sister Maryna, daughter Oleksandra, close ones, friends and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
