Maksym V. Hurelia

Gurelya Maksym Volodymyrovych was born in 1986 in Cherkasy. He studied at Cherkasy Specialized School No. 33 named after Vasyl Symonenko. After graduating, he enrolled at the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Health of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy. He worked at the Cherkasy Emergency Medical Service. He played football - he played in the youth teams of "Dnipro-2", "Khimik" and the national team of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, and later continued to play in amateur mini-football teams. During the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he was called up for mobilization on July 18, 2022. He held the position of a grenade launcher crew member in the fire support platoon of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. In mid-January 2023, while serving with his unit near the city of Svatove in Luhansk Oblast, he was wounded during a combat mission and hospitalized in one of the medical facilities in Dnipro. Despite undergoing several operations, he passed away on January 23, 2023. He was buried in Cherkasy on January 26, 2023. He is survived by his wife and two children.
