Maksym V. Katyshev

Katishev Maksym Vadymovych was born on January 11, 1988 in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, as part of the rapid response border guard detachment "Shchastia" of the 3rd border guard unit of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, he clearly and selflessly carried out combat missions. On February 25, 2022, a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group attempted to attack the position of the border guards. The border guards' fire managed to force the aggressor to retreat. After an unsuccessful attempt to surround the border units, suffering losses, the Russian troops changed their tactics and switched to remote shelling. The enemy did not abandon attempts to advance using mortars. Senior Sergeant Maksym Katishev covered the actions of the border unit with small arms fire, selflessly holding back the enemy's advance. Caught in the epicenter of the explosion of enemy mines, Maksym Katishev died a heroic death. For personal courage, selfless actions, shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath, Senior Sergeant Maksym Vadymovych Katishev was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously).
