- Senior Lieutenant Maxim Marishchak (call sign Max) was killed on March 16, 2022, near the village of Kamyanka in the Izium district of Kharkiv region. While carrying out a combat mission, he was transporting ammunition to support his comrades and came under direct enemy fire, resulting in fatal injuries. On January 31, the officer turned 23 years old. Maxim was born in the village of Mynykivtsi in the Khmelnytskyi region. He dreamed of military service since childhood. He graduated from the Kamianets-Podilskyi Military Lyceum with enhanced military-physical training. He then obtained higher military education at the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi. After graduation, the young officer joined the ranks of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of deputy commander of the engineering and sapper company and an instructor in airborne training. Since 2021, he had been carrying out combat missions in the area of the Joint Forces Operation. Maxim constantly improved his professional level in demining and attended training courses. He was repeatedly awarded by the unit commander for diligent performance of his official duties. It was under the officer's leadership that mine barriers were established and enemy equipment and personnel were neutralized in the direction that influenced the course of the war in March 2022 in Kharkiv region. "The best son Max, who is missed like air. The memory of heroes must live in the hearts of everyone. This is the least we can do for them," said his mother, Valentyna Vasylivna. The hero is buried in his native village. Maxim is survived by his parents and brother. Posthumously, the paratrooper was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the III degree.
