Maksym V. Vasylchenko

25-year-old warrior Maksym Vasylchenko was killed on January 4, 2024 in the battle for the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. He received fatal injuries during an enemy mortar and artillery bombardment. Maksym was from the city of Bohuslav in the Kyiv region. He studied at Bohuslav Secondary School No. 2. Then he entered the Faculty of Historical and Socio-Psychological Education at Hryhorii Skovoroda University of Pereiaslav-Khmilnytskyi. He loved history, his country, and aspired to live in peace. In 2023, the man voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He became a serviceman of the Separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. He held the position of rifleman - grenadier assistant. "Maksym, with a kind heart, had a steadfast character and a keen sense of justice, nurtured by his parents from childhood, which did not allow him to quietly enjoy his youth when the enemy was desecrating his native land. He voluntarily took up arms to defend it as a brave warrior. We remember Maksym as a good, courageous, and brave person who was a support, a pillar, and an example for many," wrote his classmate and friend Oleh Chaika. "Classmates and professors remember Maksym with kind words, emphasizing that he had deep knowledge of the history of his country. He was not only a capable student, but also a devoted son, friend, and patriot of his land," the Hryhorii Skovoroda University noted. Maksym was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in his hometown. The warrior is survived by his parents, younger sister, other relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.
