- Senior Sergeant of the National Police of Ukraine Maksym Voronkov was killed on March 30, 2022, while defending the Luhansk region from the occupiers. The defender came under enemy missile fire near the city of Severodonetsk. Maksym was a native of the Luhansk region. He graduated from the Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs named after E.O. Didorenko with a degree in "Social Work. Social Pedagogy. Practical Psychology". Since 2015, he has served in the special police battalion of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine. He lived in the city of Popasna, Luhansk region. He had many plans for the future. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian army in Ukraine, Maksym has taken up the defense of his native Luhansk region. On March 30, Russian occupiers launched missile strikes on the cities of the Luhansk region, in particular Severodonetsk, Kreminna, Rubizhne and Lysychansk. Many infrastructure facilities were affected. That day, one civilian and police officer Maksym Voronkov were killed. "Maksym stood up to defend his native Luhansk region and joined the courageous and strong special forces of the Luhansk police in 2015. He selflessly performed his duties. In our memory, he will remain an honest, principled and decent person, a good friend and a reliable colleague," the Luhansk Main Directorate of the National Police said.
