Maksym Ya. Korzh

Senior Soldier Maxim Korzh was killed in action on March 13, 2022, in Mykolaiv Oblast as a result of an enemy air strike. The defender was 24 years old. Maxim was born in the village of Stokopani, Kherson Oblast. He completed school and went on to serve in the army. After that, he decided to choose the path of a military man and signed his first contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. When the full-scale war began, the man served as a rifleman in the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakov Gandzyuk. On March 13, 2022, Maxim and his comrades were on duty at a local school in one of the settlements in Mykolaiv region. According to Maxim's wife Mariya, the school's geolocation was given to the occupiers by local traitors, who carried out an air strike on that location in the morning. "The school collapsed like a toy house and began to burn, the guys were in the basement. They didn't even have time to turn on the siren. They had an order to go down to the basement. Maxim was under the rubble for about 5 hours, they couldn't get him out, his legs were torn off. At 19:00, the guys informed me by phone that he had ," Mariya Korzh shared. Due to the occupation and active military operations in those regions, Maxim's body could not be brought home immediately, so he was buried in Vinnytsia Oblast. However, later, his relatives managed to arrange a reburial. The defender was laid to rest in the city of Boryspil, Kyiv Oblast, where he lived with his family. "I can confidently say that my husband is a patriot of his country, for him it was not just a job. And I am the wife of a professional military man: all the training grounds, exercises... We lived from weekend to vacation. As the statute says, 'all the hardships of military service' we went through together. Maxim was the best dad and husband. He loved me very much, always understood, supported, helped in everything. We never quarreled. When my husband was at home, I felt so calm that all the problems faded into the background. I was exactly the one behind my husband. It's not just a marriage certificate," Mariya added. Maxim left behind his parents, two sisters, wife, and little daughter.
