      72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporizhians
      Killed in action on February 18, 2020, in a battle with terrorists who were trying to break through the defense line of the Ukrainian troops near the town of Zolote in the Popasna district of Luhansk region. While at a observation post near the settlement of Vільний, Maksym was the first to come under heavy enemy fire. He opened fire with a machine gun in response, but an enemy sniper bullet hit him in the head.
