- Sergeant Maryan Matveyev (call sign Ded) was killed on September 14, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Pravdyne in the Kherson region. The warrior was 48 years old. Maryan was born in Lviv. He spent his childhood and youth in the city of Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region. There he graduated from secondary school No. 2. In his free time, he loved to collect and glue models of tanks and cars. From the age of 18, he lived in Kyiv. He worked in various fields, including as a loader, parking attendant, and security guard. Later, he went to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2019, as part of the 30th separate mechanized brigade, he took part in the Joint Forces Operation in the Luhanske area in the Donetsk region. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the man joined the 112th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the capital. Later, he was transferred to the 241st brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces. In August, as part of the 206th battalion, he went to Mykolaiv. He held the position of a rifleman, a driver-mechanic of the BMP. "He was the only child in the family. His parents was killed early. He always worked. He was homely, loved children, and loved me. He had a head injury, so he might not have gone to fight. But he couldn't just sit and wait. He immediately signed up for the Territorial Defense Forces. His brigade left for the South in May, but they didn't take him because his legs were hurting, and there was inflammation in the bones. But when the inflammation went away, he wrote a separate report and went to Mykolaiv. The day before, we were choosing tiles for the bathroom, preparing for the renovation. I was looking for and sending him photos. Then, when he had the opportunity, he called. On the last evening, we talked to him via video call with the children. Then he sent a photo with his comrades-in-arms. I looked at the photo in the morning and left a comment. But he didn't read it. And at noon, I was informed that Maryan had was killed," said the fallen warrior's wife, Tetyana. The defender was buried at the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv.
